Money transfer tools

Abstract illustration of money transfer routes between countries

Five free tools to help you find out what a transfer really costs. Everything runs in your browser. We do not store what you enter, and we never ask for personal or payment details.

Remi, the RemitInsights octopus instructor
Remi says: Always enter both the fee and the exchange rate. A zero-fee transfer can still hide its cost in the rate.

1. Currency converter

See the mid-market rate, the fair midpoint between the buying and selling price of two currencies. Use it as the benchmark for every quote you receive.

2. True cost calculator

Enter the fee and the exchange rate a provider quotes you. The calculator compares the result with the mid-market rate and shows the total cost as a percentage, including the hidden margin in the rate.

3. Compare up to three quotes

Enter the fee and exchange rate from two or three providers for the same amount. The tool ranks them by the amount your recipient actually receives and shows how far each one is from the best.

4. How much should I send?

Work backwards from the amount your recipient needs. Enter the provider's exchange rate and fee, and the tool shows how much to send so the full amount arrives.

5. How much could I save in a year?

If you send money every month, a small difference in cost adds up. Enter your current and alternative total cost percentages, which you can get from the true cost calculator, to see the yearly difference.

Getting the most from these tools

  1. Ask each provider for a live quote for the same amount and the same payout method.
  2. Enter the fee and the exchange rate exactly as quoted. Both matter.
  3. Compare what your recipient receives, then consider speed, payout options and whether the provider is regulated.
  4. Check again before you send, because rates change throughout the day.

Rates come from live public data and are indicative only. RemitInsights is not integrated with any bank or money transfer provider, so contact the provider directly for its actual rates, fees and terms. See our Disclaimer.
